Dindigul Rock Fort:
Dindigul rock fort placed 54 Km from palani
The huge hill at Dindigul where the Fort stands looks like a pillow("Dhindu"), if seen from an angle. Hence the place got its name Dindigul. Madurai Nayak King 'Muthu Krishna Naicker' started the construction of this Fort in 1605 and the Mannar Thirumalai Naicker completed the construction between 1623 to 1659.
In 1755 Hyder Ali captured the Fort and it was under the rule of Tippu Sultan, son of Hyder Ali, from 1784 to 1790. In the year 1790, the fort came into the hands of British who defeated Tippu Sultan in the Mysore war.
The fort stands one kilometers from the city's centre. Anyone who wants to visit the fort will have to trek about 800 rock steps to reach the fort. The steps are very small that one could trip over them. Because of this the fort receives only a very less number of tourists. The fort has very strong walls and was used for the military operations of the Nayaks, Tippu Sultan and the British.
Sirumalai-Dindigul :

Sirumalai is a region of 60,000 acres (200 km2) situated 25 kilometres from Dindigul, India. There are many high hills in the area. This hill station is not yet tapped by tourism. Still it has its Virgin forest and stands green. It has good scenary, pleasant climate, misty mornings/evenings, spices, fruits, cool temperature, natural agriculture, good roads and many more.
Sirumalai is a small hill station 20 Km away from Dindigul on the Natham Road. The place has a lot of birds and animals and the youngsters can go for trekking and mountaineering here. The place is mentioned in the ancient Ayurvedic books as a place abundant with many medicinal plants. The Siddha form of healing has been developed on these hills by the sages a thousand years back. Meenakshi Amman Temple Madurai:
Meenakshi Amman Temple is about 119KM from palani
The enormous temple complex is dedicated to Shiva, known here as Sundareshvara and his consort Parvati or Meenakshi. The original temple was built by Kulasekara Pandya, but the entire credit for making the temple as splendid as it is today goes to the Nayaks. The Nayaks ruled Madurai from the 16th to the 18th century and left a majestic imprint of their rule in the Meenakshi - Sundareswarar Temple.
The temple complex is within a high-walled enclosure, at the core of which are the two sanctums for meenakshi and Sundareshwara, surrounded by a number of smaller shrines and grand pillared halls. Especially impressive are the 12 gopuras. Their soaring towers rise from solid granite bases, and are covered with stucco figures of dieties, mythical animals and monsters painted in vivid colours.

Amaravathi Dam:
Amaravathi Dam is about 35 KM from palani
Amaravathi Reservoir at Amaravathinagar, 35km from palani & 25 KM from Udumalpet.The reservoir was created by the steep Amaravathi Dam built across the Amaravathi River. Amaravathi river is tributary of kaveri. It is notable for its high fisheries yield and South India's largest wild breeding population of Mugger Crocodiles, living there and in the rivers leading to it.
Thirumoorthy Dam:

Aliyar Reservoir is a 6.48 km2 (2.5 sq mi) reservoir located near Pollachi town in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu, South India. The dam is located in the foothills of Valparai, in the Anamalai Hills of the Western Ghats.[3] It is about 65 kilometres (40 mi) from Coimbatore. The dam offers some ideal getaways including a park, garden, aquarium, play area and a mini Theme-Park maintained by Tamil Nadu Fisheries Corporation for visitors enjoyment. TopSlip:
TopSlip is located about 78 KM from palani
It is a picturesque location in the Anamalai Hills. It is about 37 kms from Pollachi. This small town is an ideal picnic spot. Arrangements are available at Topslip to take tourists around the Sanctuary on elephant back or by van.
Top Slip is a national park and a medical plant conservation area in Annamalai hills. It is famous for its elephant camp and its wildlife at Kollikamuthi. It got its name during British era, as lots of its timber sliped down to the plains below. For thrill seekers accommodation is also available in a tree house. There are bungalows available within the Sanctuary in order to view natural sceneries and its wildlife.
Masaniamman Temple:

Masaniamman Temple is situated at a distance of 15 miles away from Pollachi. This sanctified shrine attract large number of devotees.
The idol of Masaniamman is very powerful one and offer blessing to all devotees who have a stunt belief in her. Devotees also expect that Goddess will respond their prayer within three weeks. There is a stone image in the temple representing as a Goddess of Justice with the body of serpent.
Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary::
Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary is located about 76 KM from palani
This Sanctuary is situated at an altitude of 1,400 mts in the Western Ghats near Pollachi (about 90 Kms from Coimbatore). The area of the sanctuary is 958 sq.kms.
It has various kinds of fauna like elephant, gaur, tiger, panther, sloth-bear, deer, wild bear, wild dog, porcupine, flying squirrel, jackal, pangolin, civet cat and birds like rocket-tailed drongo, red-whiskered bulbul, black headed oriole, tree pie, spotted dove, green pigeon, etc. The Amaravathy reservoir in the Anamalai has a large number of crocodiles. There are also many places of scenic beauty such as Karainshola, Anaikunthiashola, grass hills, waterfalls, groves, teak forests, estates, dams and reservoirs.
Accommodation and facilities
The only accommodation available is Forest Rest Houses and dormitories. Bedding and linen is provided, but it is advisable to take a sleeping bag and towels. Some lodges have running hot water, otherwise a bucket of hot water is provided on request. Electricity is erratic, so one is advised to take candles and matches. The caretakers of the various lodges prepare simple and tasty Indian food. There is a small canteen at Top Slip where one can also get omelettes, dosas and 'meals' and buy mineral water, toilet paper, cigarettes and other knick-knacks. There is also a small store where one can buy essential groceries, some vegetables etc.
